President Solih inaugurates two new harbours in Addu

Addu City, Maldives – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday, inaugurated the new harbours of Maradhoo and Maradhoo Feydhoo, in Addu City.

The inauguration of both harbour was held as separate ceremonies held in each district.

Maradhoo Harbour, which was contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was a MVR 25.5 million project which broke ground on 3rd November 2019. The project involved harbour dredging, construction of a sand fill break water, a 340 metre revetment and a 276 metre quay wall, along with construction of pavements and light installation in the harbour area.

Maradhoo Feydhoo’s MVR 31.6 million project was contracted to Heavy Force Private Limited on 24th June 2021. This project included maintenance dredging of the harbour and its channel, construction of a 243 metre breakwater and a 260 metre quay wall, as well as construction of pavements and light installation in the area.

The inauguration of these harbours were part of the series of project announced and inaugurated in Addu City during President Solih and First Lady Fazna’s visit to the city.
