The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has decided to send an additional troops to Maafaru island to search for the ‘mystery’ animal caught on video.
A video of a four-legged animal that looks much larger than a cat walking near the runway of Maafaru Airport has been circulating on social media.
The animal was found on the southeast side of the runway, where there are no airport buildings.
A spokesman for the MNDF said the search operation has been expanded as the unknown animal has not been found yet. More troops are scheduled to leave for Maafaru this morning, the official said.
The video of the animal walking on a high ground near the runway was recorded by foreign employees working at the airport. The incident was reported to the MNDF yesterday.
