Government extends Adeeb’s leave period

Government has today informed that former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb’s leave period abroad has been extended after referring to medical documents.

Maldives Correctional Service sent a tweet out confirming the extension today, after his 10 day leave period was over on 22nd of July.

Adeeb is currently tending to his illness in Singapore, his team has informed. Adeeb was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in MMPRC scandal. He prison sentence was lightened to house arrest for his cooperation in former President Yameen’s case in the same scandal.

Adeeb was a witness for Prosecutor General’s office in Yameen’s conviction earlier, which was eventually nullified in the Supreme Court, after Maldives’ top Court ruled that Adeeb, a convicted felon cannot be a witness in the case.
