Bank of Maldives (BML) has revealed that its extensive ATM network processes approximately 99 million rufiyaa in daily transactions across the country, according to recently published statistics.
The data indicates that BML’s comprehensive ATM infrastructure handles roughly 30,000 transactions per day, with customers depositing 28.6 million rufiyaa through these self-service terminals. The bank’s ATM network in the outer atolls plays a particularly significant role, processing 41 million rufiyaa daily through 15,000 transactions, which includes 12.3 million rufiyaa in daily deposits.

In a strategic expansion of its digital banking footprint, BML has successfully established ATM services across all islands in both Dhaalu Atoll and Haa Alif Atoll. Between February 25 and April 9, the Dhaalu Atoll network processed a substantial 47 million rufiyaa through 13,000 transactions, including 10.2 million rufiyaa in deposits.
During the same period, the Haa Alif Atoll network demonstrated even stronger performance, handling 50 million rufiyaa daily through 21,600 transactions, with 15 million rufiyaa deposited daily through the atoll’s ATM facilities.
A BML spokesperson clarified to “Sun” news outlet that these figures represent only rufiyaa-denominated transactions, excluding any foreign currency operations.
As the Maldives’ largest financial institution, Bank of Maldives currently serves a customer base exceeding 345,000 individuals, underscoring its critical role in the nation’s banking infrastructure.
