Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Aly was summoned to the parliament by the request of Dhaandhoo MP today.
MPs questioned the minister regarding teachers’ pay, education system, curriculum. Minister said increasing the teachers’ pay is a part of ruling coalition’s manifesto and she has no doubt that this government, will enforce it. Minister said that the job is assigned to pay commission and they will follow through.
Also, the curriculum is being researched by Cambridge University and with their help this government plans to improve the current curriculum students are taught. Dhivehi and Islam curriculum will be researched by Maldivian scholars and experts in the field.
Minister also highlighted that the proposed budget is not enough for the government and ministry’s plans. So she hopes that the parliament will consider it and improve it while finalizing.
