Maldivian tests positive for Covid-19 for the first time

UAE reports Maldivian among other nationals who have tested positive for Covid-19, marking the first Maldivian to have contracted the virus

News agency reporting on the Middle East, Khaleej Times reported that according to the Ministry of Health and Protection, one Maldivian has tested positive for the virus in the country.

UAE is said to have identified at least 50 positive cases of the coronavirus today out of which 21 individuals are from 21 different countries.

Nationalities listed in the media are Sri Lanka, UK, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, South Africa, Belgium, Tunisia, South Korea, Bulgaria, France, Czech Republic, Australia, Lebanon, Kenya, Sudan, Iran, Ireland, Morocco, Pakistan, Sweden and the Maldives.

All who tested positive today are said to be individuals who have been in direct contact with patients previously tested positive. With this, the number of people infected with Covid-19 has risen to 248.

Maldives is yet to officially comment of the matter.
