Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that an individual who consulted at the Male’ flu clinic has tested positive for Covid-19, making this the first local case in the country.
According to HPA, the person consulted the flu clinic near Male’ Hiyaa on the 14th of April and tested positive on the 15th of April.
Authorities have since cordoned off the area and have quarantined all those living in her residence building. The individual has also been transported to an isolation facility.
So far, it has been established that the person has no recent travel history out of the country. Officials are carrying out contact tracing protocols to determine anyone who might have come in contact with the individual.
