Male’, Maldives – Two more Maldivians have tested positive for Covid-19 in Male’, the capital of Maldives.
In a statement released by Health Protection Agency (HPA) of the country, the two new cases are direct contacts of patient 23, totaling the number of positive cases in the country to 25.
Samples taken from two Maldivian nationals (MAV024, MAV025) who were Direct Contacts of case: MAV023 have tested POSITIVE for #COVID19.

The agency also reported that officials are now working on transporting both patients to isolation facilities.
Both individuals who are now in quarantine facility are being moved to isolation facility.
As of now there are 5 confirmed cases from Malé.

So far, 10 Maldivians have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country, but only 5 cases are reported to be locally transmitted cases. While patient zero has still not been identified, officials have confirmed that the situation of Maldives has escalated to a community spread.
With this, the entire country has been placed on a lockdown as more positive cases are expected to come up in the coming days.
