Aid by Jack Ma arrives in Maldives

The aid donated to Maldives by Jack Ma, founder of the famous e-commerce platform Ali Baba, in fighting the battle against Covid-19 has arrived in the Maldives.

The departure of the flight was announced in a tweet sent out by the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Zhang Lizhong, which also highlighted that along with Jack Ma, six more enterprises, the local government of Guangxi – which he described as the sister city of Male’ – and MFA of China had also joined in on the donation.

The flight has since arrived carrying test kits, ventilators and other medical equipment.

Apart from this, some Chinese companies working the Maldives are also helping out including the donation of 5000 face masks specially designed for children as well as in the helping or chartering the aircraft that arrived in the Maldives carrying all aid.

Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdullah Shahid thanked China and all foundations, companies and organizations which have been helping Maldives during this difficult time.
