The 19th National bodybuilding competition (Mr.Maldives) scheduled for the upcoming month has can been canceled for the year. The decision was announced by the Body Building Association Of Maldives (BBAOM).
Due to the disruption caused by the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, the Asian bodybuilding competition scheduled to be held on September, in Maafushi has been postponed to next year. BBAOM has also announced that they have postponed selecting members for the national bodybuilding squad until next year.
Furthermore, BBAOM stated that the decision to postpone the competition and the selection of the squad was made by BBAOM members upon the recommendation of the Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof.
Although the initial plan was to finalize the national squad by April 2020, before the competition on 17th July 2020, BBAOM revealed that the National bodybuilding competition will be now held on March 21 2021. And the selection of the National Squad on 2nd April 2021.
The Asian Bodybuilding Competition has been rescheduled to be held on the first week of September in 2021.
BBAOM advised everyone to cooperate with the government and to follow the safety guidelines provided by them during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
