Emphatic win gives Barca 5-point lead

With Spanish LaLiga resumed this week, title contenders, Barcelona enjoyed their first win after the long break.

Beating Mallorca with four goals to nil, Barca moved ahead with 5 points clear at the top of the table. With a very early lead, Barca took charge of the game in the second minute. Arturo Vidal, the scorer ensured his side were on the lead with the first chance of the game.

Among him, Martin Braithwaite, Jordi Alba and captain Leo Messi were too on the score sheet last night. Martin scoring late in the first half and Alba and Messi scored both late goals to further the lead, giving the team a total of 61 points for the season.

Real Madrid sitting behind, who played one match short have 56 points. They have a chance to narrow the gap as they play against SD Eibar later this evening.  It is Sevilla who are third in the table with 50 points, Real Sociedad fourth with 46 points.

Atletico Madrid, who started the season well are in the sixth position with only one point behind fourth. They are to play against Atheletic Club today.
