Maldivian to resume domestic flights tomorrow

Male’ Maldives – National airline, Maldivian has announced that it would be restarting domestic flights within Maldives from July 1st onward.

This comes after the national airline stopped its commercial flights on 15th April, 2020 due to the lockdown imposed on the capital.

In its announcement today, the national carrier has stated that people who are travelling need to get prior travel approval from the relevant authorities before or after their tickets are issued. Those who are travelling from the islands to Male’ need to have obtained their travel permit from NEOC or police while people travelling out of Greater male’ Region need to register themselves on the new HPA portal “Haalu Belun”.

As per the new guidelines set by HPA, anyone who is travelling out of Male’ region is required to be home quarantined and all such people are advised to self-declare themselves during check-in at the airport.

After the suspension of its flights on April 15, Maldivian has been only operating necessary flights such as repatriation flights and cargo flights.
