Restaurant, shop and gym to open in the Parliament

Male’, Maldives – Speaker of the Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed has announced that a restaurant and gym will be opened in the Parliament.

Speaking in the parliamentary sitting this morning, Nasheed detailed the specifics of the new establishments stating that the Social Club of the Parliament has decided on opening the new facilities.

He further stated that although the Social Club currently consists of only sitting members, the the club is open for all past MPs as well as administrative staff of the parliament who are going for retirement, adding that the Parliament restaurant would allow the public to sit down with MPs and share their concerns, over a coffee.

This comes following a protest in Male’ where protestors voiced out against the Parliament, claiming that it is not doing anything beneficial to the people. However, the protest was broken down by the Police.
