Male’, Maldives – Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail has been appointed to the vacant post of Tourism Minister of Maldives on an interim basis today.
This is following the dismissal of Ali Waheed who was the Minister overlooking the Tourism related affairs of the country until today. His dismissal came after several employees from the ministry brought to light multiple complaints of ‘misconduct at the work place’ as the Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hood described.
Although initially President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih merely ordered Ali Waheed to tender his resignation last night, it came to the point of dismissal as the President did not receive his resignation even today.
It has later been known that the nature of the ‘misconduct’ has been of a sexual nature, which Maldives Police Service have confirmed to be investigating.
