Male’, Maldives – The President of the Human Rights Commission of Maldives, Aminath Eenas has stepped down from her position.
Along with Eenas, member of the Commission, Aishath Afreen has also resigned. Both members have announced their departure from the the Commission at a time when the Human Rights and Gender Committee of the Parliament is working on removing members of the HRCM.
While both members have stepped down from their positions, the remaining five members of the Commission were all appointed during the tenure of former President Yameen Abdul Qayyoom.
Further, the President’s Office announced applications of the position of HRCM membership as four out of the five sitting members of the Commission face the end of their appointment term.
Application deadline is open from Sunday to Monday, accepting applications from morning 09:00 to afternoon 12:30.
