Male’, Maldives – Maldives Meteorological Services (MET) has announced a White Alert along with a warning of possible wave surges for atolls in the southern region of Maldives.
The MET office wave surge alert was issued for atolls between Laamu Atoll and Addu City, from 15:00 to 19:00 of Thursday.
While wave over topping is expected in only islands below Laamu, a large area of the country is expected to have bad weather along with these atolls. In addition to these atolls, the white alert issued covers islands between Haa Alifu and Raa Atoll as well.
During this time, seas are expected to be rough and winds are expected to be strong, with wind speed going as high as 40 miles per hour.
