Male’, Maldives – The Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Maldives has announced that the Eid al-Adha prayers will not be taking place in the stadium this year, in Male’.
The announcement came following the increase in cases of Covid-19 infections in the Male’ City area, due to which prayer in a larger congregation is not encouraged. However, the prayers will still take place in the Islamic Center as well as other designated mosques of Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’.
The Ministry further revealed that the location of the Eid prayers in the rest of the Maldives, including the size of congregation would be decided by the respective local councils of the islands.
Eid al-Adha is expected to fall on the 31st of August.
