Male’, Maldives – Dr. Sheena Moosa, a local Public Health expert has projected that the number of Covid-19 cases may be alarmingly high during the month of August.
Speaking at the national press conference held by the Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC), Dr. Sheena revealed that the number of Covid-19 cases are expected to be the highest during the month of August, with a projected 170 cases of the coronavirus infection each day.
With this the total number of cases for the month of August alone is to be at 2373, although it is likely to decrease in September at an overall 1464 cased for the month, with an estimated 105 confirmed infections a day.
The projections also detailed that during August, 16 people are expected to require hospitalized care on the daily and that all in all, 47 people would require critical care during the whole month. The numbers look better for September as 10 people are expected to be hospitalized with the infection per day with a total of 29 patients expected to require care in the ICU during the month.
According to the figures by Dr. Sheena, the earliest when Maldives is likely to take a turn for the better would be In October with an average of 68 cases per day, 29 average cases per day in November and 10 cases per day in December.
