Male’, Maldives – The President’s Office of Maldives has announced that all government offices will be closed from the 4th of August until the 6th, which aligns with the weekend, effectively closing all government offices until 9th August.
According to the statement released by the President’s office, the decision has been taken due to the increase in Covid-19 infections in the country, due to which the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided on the closure as a measure to reduce the spread of the virus in the country.
The statement also read that all employees are requested to work from home where applicable and to provide all services for the public online when ever possible.
Further, it has also been advised that should a specific service be required and must be given in person, the operation should be run by the directors of the relevant office with as minimal staff as possible in the offices and should be done in coordination with HPA and the Health Emergency Operation Center.
As offices are to be closed in until next Sunday, due to the alarming increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country, HPA has taken several measures including making wearing masks in the Male’ region mandatory.
