R. Un’goofaaru placed under monitoring

R. Un’goofaaru, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has placed Un’goofaaru island of Raa atoll under monitoring, barring anyone from entering or leaving the island.

HPA revealed that the reason for this is to look into matters regarding Covid-19 in the island. While no further details were given on the reasoning, effective from 09:59 on Tuesday morning, no one is allowed to leave on come into the island without the permission of the Agency until further notice.

However, it has been known that an individual who was treated in the island’s hospital has tested positive upon arriving in Male’ for further treatment, sparking fears that the virus may be spreading in the island.

While the number of Covid-19 cases in the country continues to climb, the number of islands from which new cases are being recorded is also on the rise. However, so far the majority of cases are concentrated in the ever so congested city of Male’.
