Addu City, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that a 21 year old female who completed a travel related quarantine period has tested positive for Covid-19.
Addressing the media, Deputy Director General of HPA Thasleema Usmaan revealed that the individual was administered a test prior to being released from quarantine and that five people were quarantined together, including the individual who tested positive.
However, the other members in the household tested negative. Thasleema revealed that this may be due to the immunity of the individuals and that it is not uncommon. “Hence, they will be considered contacts and subjected to 14 days of additional quarantine, after which they would be tested again.”
This is the fourth case of Covid-19 in Addu City, and the third in Hithadhoo. All four cases are currently considered as active cases. However, all are doing fine and otherwise healthy, according to HPA.
