Addu City, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has revealed that the positive case announced regarding the 21 year old female from Hithadhoo was in fact, a false positive.
The case first came to light as a positive case on last Monday, when HEOC announced that a 21 year old female who completed 14 days of a travel related quarantine had tested positive for Covid-19. However, the case caught wind when none of the other four members who quarantined with her in the same house tested negative for the coronavirus.
HEOC, at the time explained that this may happen sometimes and that becoming infected with the virus depends on the immunity of the individual.
However, HEOC then revealed on Saturday that upon testing a second sample of the woman, the results have come back negative, suggesting that the initial positive was false.
With this, Addu now has three active cases, one in Feydhoo and two from Hithadhoo.
