Male’, Maldives – Four additional Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines have been installed in Indhira Gandi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The machines, which were installed by State Trading Organization (STO) are now functional, and will increase the testing capacity of the country immensely, revealed the company. It was also revealed that two out of the four machines were donated to the hospital by STO.
STO had recently installed a new PCR machine in the police lab as well, as the demand for increasing the testing capacity keeps rising.
While more than 100,000 samples have been collected in the country, to be tested for Covid-19, the number of infected people has exceeded 7,000 with 2,588 active cases.
