Male’, Maldives – Maldives Correctional Services has revealed that 6 detainees in Hulhumale’ jail have tested positive for Covid-19.
The Institution revealed on Thursday that five expatriates who were detained in the Hulhumale’ detention center for violating immigration regulations, along with an individual serving time in the Hulhumale’ jail have tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to the Service, it is believed that the virus infiltrated the campus via the expatriates who were newly admitted into the facility. With this, samples of 10 officers, 2 nurses, 19 detainees and one individual serving time in the jail have been collected for testing.
The Service assures that all necessary action will be taken in compliance with the procedures recommended by Health Protection Agency (HPA), regarding Covid-19.
