Random sampling conducted in Kulhudhuffushi

Kulhudhuffushi, Maldives – Random sampling has been conducted in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi on Wednesday, to determine whether a community spread of Covid-19 is present in the island.

This was carried out, after a patient who was transferred from the island to Male’ for further treatment, tested positive for the coronavirus. With this case, the island was put on monitoring status to carry out contact tracing efforts, which now has been concluded, returning the island to its previous status.

According to Kulhudhuffushi Hospital, the random sampling was carried out from 16:00 to 18:00, during which 72 samples were collected, although 86 samples were scheduled to be collected.

Til date, 1802 samples have been processed from the island’s PCR system, with 461 samples having have been collected by the Rapid Response Team of the island.
