31st Covid-19 death confirmed in Maldives

Male’, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has announced that two more Covid-19 deaths have been confirmed in the country, marking 31 lives lost due to the ongoing pandemic.

HEOC detailed that a 60 year old male, seeking treatment at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility has passed away at 18:24 on Wednesday evening. No further details surrounding the death of the individual was revealed by HEOC.

Although this is the 30th life lost due to Covid-19 in the country, HEOC, on Wednesday night revealed that a 58 year old Maldivian male undergoing treatment for cancer, while in quarantine in H. Kelaa had died on Tuesday, and had tested positive for Covid-19. It was declared on Wednesday that this is the 31st death due to the coronavirus.

While the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country is close to 9,000, the daily number of new cases in the country is slowly declining, sparking hope that Maldives indeed has better days ahead.
