Th. Veymandoo, Maldives – A man carrying drugs has been caught in Th. Veymandoo, just before he was about to depart from the island.
The 28 year old, who has ingested the drugs was caught in a special operation held by Police Intelligence, in collaboration with Th. Veymandoo Police station. The operation, which took place on the 6th of September at around 14:15 saw the man arrested from the harbour area of the island.
After his arrest, he was taken to the hospital under a warrant, where his X-ray was taken. The X-ray showed that he was carrying something which was suspected to be drugs, which was then removed by doctors.
The rubber packets, in which the suspected drug items were taken into police custody, and the man has been held in remand for 8 days.
The police is now investigating the matter.
