Picnic area developed in Veymandoo with the support of BML

Male’, Maldives – A picnic area developed through Bank of Maldives (BML) “Aharenge Bank Community Fund” in Thaa Atoll Veymandoo has been opened for public.

The area called as ‘Faruhilaa Thundi’ in the island of Veymandoo has been revamped with beach umbrellas, huts, BBQ area and picnic dining space. The picnic area also has a mini football court and a volley court as well as a 2500 litre water tank. In addition to this dustbins have been kept around the space to ensure proper waste management.

BML’s Manger Public Relation, Mohamed Saeed had said that the bank was delighted to support the community of Veymandoo in the completion of this project and also said that their sincere gratitude and thanks goes to the individuals who provided assistance and the project lead.

“Our mission is to create a space for families to further strengthen the relations and enjoy as well as bring the community together in the spirit of recreation and relaxation. We further aim to enhance the project to allow residents from nearby islands to visit and enjoy the space as well” the winner of the Community Fund proposal, Fahud Abdul Shukoor had told.

Under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund, BML selects projects in the areas of education, environment, sports and community development. This year the project submission has been divided into 3 phase. BML has said that a total of 5 winning proposals will be selected during the 1st and 2nd phase while 10 winning proposals will be selected during the 3rd phase.
