Ihavandhoo, Maldives – Seven individuals in home quarantine have tested positive for Covid-19 in HA. Ihavandhoo, revealed Ivandhoo island council, on Saturday.
The council revealed that the individuals tested positive following the administering of the test, upon completion of a travel related 14 day quarantine. It was also revealed that six out of the seven individuals are expatriates.
The council advised all residents to adhere to social distancing measures and to wear masks when out in public, at all times. The council also urged the public to wear masks when going to the mosques.
According to current regulations, anyone traveling to the Maldives from abroad, or anyone traveling from an island which has a known community spread – which in this case is only Male’ city – must be quarantined for a period of 14 days and will only be released from quarantine upon getting a negative Covid-19 test result.
At present time, the number of daily cases of Covid-19 is slowly decreasing after the country saw the highest recorded number of cases recently. However, as the cases in the capital, where most of the cases are concentrated in, decreases, the virus is now showing up in various islands and atolls across the country.
The total number of recorded Covid-19 cases in the country is above 9,000.
