A rise by 69% seen in International arrivals

Malé, Maldives — The Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL) announces on Thursday that a rise by 69% has been seen in the international arrivals over the second one-month period since Maldives reopened its borders on July 15.

MACL has reported that while Maldives recorded a total of 7,607 international arrivals from July 15 to August 15, 12,883 international arrivals were recorded from August 16 to September 15. This is considered as a 69.36% improvement compared to the aforementioned records.

Furthermore, while there were 9,241 international departures recorded from July 15 to August 15, there were 14,984 international departures from August 16 to September 15. This marks a 62.15% increase.

International air traffic movements also increased recording a total of 441 international air traffic movements from August 16 till September 15. This marks a 5.25% increase compared to the 419 international air traffic movements recorded from July 15 to August 15.

However, the domestic air traffic movement has seen a downfall there were only 3,469 domestic arrivals from August 16 to September 15, while 3,576 domestic arrivals to Velana International Airport (VIA) were recorded from July 15 to August 15. This marks a decline of 2.99%.

The domestic air traffic movements has dropped from 362 movements to 310 movements, marking for a total of 14.36 percent decline.
