Male’, Maldives – The Education Ministry of Maldives has decided to keep the schools of Male’ closed for an additional duration of two weeks.
The Ministry revealed that after considering the Covid-19 situation in Male’, and following consultations with Health Protection Agency (HPA) and other relevant institutions, it has been decided to continue studies of the schools in the Male’ region via online portals.
It also revealed that this decision would be reviewed after the two week period.
The schools of the country remained closed for an extended period of time, due to the community spread of Covid-19 in Male’ city and opened on the first of July after numbers seemingly decreased. However, the numbers increased rapidly in Male’ causing schools to shut down during the early days of August.
After lockdown easements in the country with regards to Covid-19, the virus has spread to various parts of the country, with 99 cases of the virus on just Wednesday alone.
