UNDP donates IT equipment to Judicial system

Male’, Maldives – IT equipment to be donated to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), and to various courts of Maldives, by UNDP has been handed over the Maldives on Thursday.

The equipment was handed over to JSC by UNDP’s resident representative, Akiko Fuji, during a special ceremony held at JSC. The equipment was received by President of JSC, Hisaan Husain, and Judicial Administrator Dr. Abdullah Nazeer on behalf of the courts.

JSC revealed that among the aid provided by UNDP included equipment required to process online trials, as well as equipment required to modernize and digitalize the work of the judiciary in the most up to date manner, along with the licensing for Office 365.

It was also added by JSC that due to this aid, open hearings would be made more easy and would better allow the operation of all courts on one platform, which would aid in resolving many of the problems faced by the courts today.

Speaking at the ceremony, Akiko Fuji revealed that UNDP will be further helping in the digitalization of courts.
