Covid-19: Two new cases confirmed in Kulhudhuffushi

Kulhudhuffushi, Maldives – Two individuals who were in home quarantine in Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi, up north of Maldives, have tested positive for Covid-19.

It has been revealed that the two cases are of two local females aged 34 and 64. The pair were tested upon the completion of a mandatory travel related 14 day quarantine.

With this, the number of Covid-19 cases recorded from the city has risen to 7. This number comprises of 3 crew members of “Faalhu Boat” which travels between the capital of Maldives, Male’ and Kulhudhuffushi, as well as the four individuals who tested positive from home quarantine.

According to the latest statistics by Health Protection Agency (HPA), the number of active Covid-19 cases within the atolls except Male’ is at 90, with the cases being spread across 24 different islands. As of now, the total number of cases recorded in the country has exceeded 10,000 – a number that was met with horror when initially estimated as the result if proper precautionary measures are not taken.

While the virus has claimed 34 lives in the country, authorities urge the public to adhere to the precautionary measures and regulations set and to wear masks as all times when going out in public.
