Covid-19: Many from Kulhudhuffushi Police Station to be tested

Kulhudhuffushi, Maldives – It has been decided to test many individuals working at the Kulhudhuffushi Police Station, after an police officer form the station tested positive for Covid-19.

Station revealed that in light of recent events, additional safety and precautionary measures have been taken to ensure that the services provided by the station to the public are not disrupted. This includes identifying all close contacts of the officer who tested positive and transferring them to isolation, while more people, including those in isolation would have their samples collected and tested in collaboration with the Police Medical Services.

Further, the station also reassured that operations changes have also been brought about to the station to ensure that all services are provided to the islanders without interruption. The station has also disinfected all policing gears as well as the entire police station since.

While several islands which fall under the upper north division of Maldives Police Service are under monitoring, the stations in these islands have also been disinfected as a precautionary measure. Police also urge to use the telephone and e-services of the institution as much as possible during this time, to ensure less contact during this time.

As of the latest statistics by Health Protection Agency (HPA), there are more than 100 cases of Covid-19 across 20 different islands of the Maldives, with the total recorded number of cases above 10,000.
