Speaker of Parliament and two members in isolation

Male’, Maldives – Vice President of the parliament, Eva Abdullah said that the Speaker of the Parliament of Maldives Former President Mohamed Nasheed and two other members of parliament has been isolated.

Speaking at today’s parliament meeting, Eva said that in addition to the Speaker and two members of parliament another member is also in lockdown. Speaker Nasheed is in isolation as he returned from an unofficial trip to England on September 22nd and his isolation is supposed to finish by October 6.

Even though the identities of the other two members in isolation have not yet been revealed, chairperson of MDP and member for western Henveyru constituency Hassan Latheef said that he is in home quarantine after his mother tested positive for Covid-19.

Some members of the parliament have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past as well and some have been quarantined as well. Till now 10,530 people has tested positive for the virus in Maldives and 34 people passed away due to the disease.
