Public invited to observe the disposal of 300kg drugs

Male’, Maldives – Maldives Police Service has opened for public to observe the destroying of 300kg of drugs which they have confiscated until the end of June of this year.

Police informed that this is open to anyone from the public who is interested and that those who want to observe this must register their names with the service before 14:00 today. Those who want to observe must send in their full name, ID card number and contact number to media@police.gov.mv and the opportunity would be given based on the order of email they receive to a limited number of observers.

This is planned to be carried out at Dhoonidhoo island nearby Male’ city on this Thursday. Maldives Police Service has been increasing drug related operations since the new government came in to power and have carried out several successful drug sting operations throughout the Maldives. Most recently Maldives Police Service confiscated 98.6Kg of drugs in an operation they carried out in Addu.
