Male’, Maldives – Studies for students of grade 7 and 8 within Male’ area is set to start this month after the close down due to the spread of Covid-19 in the capital.
Education Ministry said that after considering the current situation along with the guidance from Health Protection Agency (HPA), school will reopen for students of grade 8 on October 19th and students of grade 7 will start on October 25. School for students of key stage 4 and 5 (grade 9-12) already started on October 4th.
Schools initially reopened on 1st July after being closed due to Covid-19 but schools in Male’ area were again closed at the start of August due to the increased number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in Male’.
The number of positive cases in Male’ started to increase after ease was given on the protective measures. The numbers have now started to decrease again due to the strict implementations of protective measures placed by HPA for the safety of the people. HPA said that the current situation does not allow them to give an ease on the current safety measures yet.
Till now, 10,850 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives and 35 people have passed away. This includes an elderly women who passed away today while being treated at DH11.
