Male’, Maldives – President of the opposition PNC, Abdul Raheem Abdulla ( Adhurey) has said that it will be an honor for him to be jailed by this government.

Speaking at a meeting with the opposition parties PPM/PNC, Adhurey said that he is not concerned about being placed in pillory in jail and that he is more worried about the eradication of Islam from Maldives.

“Being jailed by this government will be an honor. I plead to you, please put me in jail, I will take pride in it. As far as i believe, being jailed for raising your voice against a government this unjust and against Islam is more of a sacrifice” said, Adhurey.

He further added that he will continue to protest against this government even if he is behind bars. Adhurey also said that the current government has crossed the limits way more further than the government in 2008 and that this time, they will protest much stronger than back in 2008. Adhurey also called out the government not to assume that the citizens will hold back even though 65 members of the Parliament are from MDP.

“These protests are not for overthrowing the government, but rather for bringing the government to the right path. During the process, if the government falls, then there is nothing we can do. By then, the government would have already failed,” said Adhurey.
