Curfew duration in Male’ shortened

Male’, Maldives – The curfew timimg in Male’ due to Covid-19 has now been changed from 23:00 to 04:00.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) stated that starting from tonight, the previous curfew timing from 22:00 to 05:00 has now been decreased, to be from 23:00 to 04:00.

The curfew has been strictly enforced in the Male’ region, which saw a huge surge in the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 during August, following an easement of protective measures in Male’. During August, more than 100 People tested positive each day amounting to a total of 3900 within August only. The virus also claimed 12 lives during the month.

The numbers have started to gradually decrease as daily positive cases are below 100 during September, except one day. Mostly the figures are around 50 on an average day.

Till now 11, 154 have tested positive for Covid-19 in Maldives and 35 people have passed away due to the disease. There are currently 49 people being treated in hospitals 69 active cases across 20 different Atolls. HPA revealed that from resorts, 15 tourists and 25 workers have tested positive for Covid-19.
