MP Niyaz criticizes PPM loyalty cards

Male’, Maldives – MP of Hulhumale’ constituency and Deputy Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Ali Niyaz has criticized Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) on their loyalty cards, saying that it is not appropriate to differentiate between the members of a political party.

MP Niyaz criticized PPM, which is the second largest political party in Maldives, regarding their introduction of loyalty cards within the party. MP Niyaz said that differentiating between the members of a political party is not a sensible thing to do and that all members of the party must have an equal level of loyalty towards the party and an equal status within the party. Furthermore, MP Niyaz described these loyalty cards as differentiating between members of the party.

PPM said the the main purpose of the loyalty cards is to raise funds for the party and increase membership of the party. These cards are categorized into four categories which is Magenta, Gold, silver and Platinum. An amount above MVR 100 can be donated to the party via these cards which were introduced on Friday.
