Land allocated for a shopping mall in Addu City

Addu City, Maldives – Addu City Council has passed to allocate a land to develop a shopping mall in the district of Hithadhoo.

In a council meeting today, the motion proposed by Deputy Mayor Mohamed Yasrif was passed with with all six council members voting for it.

The proposal was made by the deputy mayor stating that such an infrastructure is crucial for the economic development of the city. It was proposed to include office spaces, different businesses, cinemas, game centers, parking area and gardens in the shopping mall complex.

The motion by council also states to announce for an interested party to design, finance and build the shopping mall complex in accordance with the financial guidelines.

The land which was allocated for the shopping mall complex is in the south constituency area of Hithadhoo near to the fresh water lake called as ‘Medheaari Kilhi’. The location is on the same road as Addu City Council and also close to the Hithadhoo residential flats area. Addu Equatorial Hospital is also less than 5 minutes away from the proposed location.
