Ongoing IMTM will open new avenues for stakeholders: Minister Mausoom

Male’, Maldives – Speaking at the opening of the biggest travel market in the Maldives, International Maldives Travel Maldives (IMTM) for the year 2020, the Tourism Minister of Maldives, Dr. Abdullah Mausoom has stated that this year’s event would open new avenues for state holders in the industry.

Emphasizing his confidence in the tourism sector of the country, Minister Mausoom detailed that this platform, which was held this year from 16th to 17th November would help stakeholders to share experiences, tell stories and also enable networking opportunities to promote and engage in the field.

“We are determined to revive our tourism industry and the spirit of cooperation is high among our stakeholders. Our combined efforts in this regard have resulted in a gradual increase in tourist arrivals since our borders were open in mid-July,” the Minister said.

In his statement, the Minister thanked the team of IMTM for inviting him, adding that the program would assist in connecting the entire industry and the representing participant, also highlighting that virtual engagement is likely to play an important role in the revival of tourism.

The IMTM is the first virtual business to business (B2B) exhibition held in the country for the travel and tourism industry, with the fair taking place on a brand new platform this year, IMTM air, which allows participants to interact and connect during the event.
