Maafushi placed under monitoring

Maafushi, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has placed the infamous guesthouse island of Maldives in Male’ atoll, Maafushi under monitoring.

HPA confirmed the status of Maafushi, revealing that the decision was made to ensure certain aspects with regards to Covid-19 and that the island was placed under monitoring as of 15:43 of Sunday.

During this time, all unauthorized travel to and from the island has been banned, while all government offices and institutions along with other relevant authorities are urged to cooperate with HPA in providing necessary services in the island.

The monitoring status of Maafushi comes following an announcement that all tourists in the island have made a full recovery from Covid-19 as of last week. It has also been revealed that all 85 random samples collected from the island following the five positive cases among tourists, also came negative.

While no further details have been revealed following the state of the island, locals are urged to adhere to the instructions of health protection authorities such as wearing masks when going out and maintaining social distancing, while also maintaining hand hygiene.
