Crime prevention program to be carried out in Addu City

Addu City, Maldives – Addu City Council has informed that they will be carrying out a crime prevention program at the most populous island in Addu, Hithadhoo.

According to the city council, the main aim of this program is to keep and maintain Hithadhoo as an island with less crimes and as a more peaceful environment for everyone.

While the program will be continued by the Maldives Police Service members, all the youngsters in the island are requested to take part in this crime prevention program.

The presence of the youngsters are requested as the mission to lower crimes at such a populous island can only become successful with the support, opinions and most importantly, with the assistance of the youngsters in the island.

Over the past years, Hithadhoo has reported several theft cases, rape cases and gang fights as well. In addition to this, during a major drug operation held in Addu City recently, Police had also seized approximately 98.6 kilograms of drugs, including MDMA, amphetamines and heroin along with 14 suspects that were between the ages 23 and 40.
