China to restart flight operations to Maldives

Male’, Maldives – The Foreign Ministry of China and Maldives have discussed about restarting the flight operations between the two countries.

During the bilateral consultations that was held virtually at the level of Director General with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, both Ministries discussed several matters of mutual interest including restarting the flight operations between the two countries.

On behalf of Maldives, Mr. Amin Javed Faizal, Additional Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke in the meeting and Mr. Chen Song, Deputy Director General at the Asian Affairs Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China spoke on behalf of China.

While speaking at the meeting, Mr. Javid assured that the Government of Maldives’ is and will always be firmly commitment to the One-China Policy.

 Mr. Javid then expressed gratitude towards the Chinese Government and Chinese enterprises for the generous help they have extended towards Maldives during such tough times. He continued to say that China is still one of the most important development partners of Maldives.

Mr. Javid added that he hopes that the flight trades and other flight operations will restart between the two countries as soon as possible.

In response to Mr. Javid, Mr. Chen Song stated that both countries have a very close relation and that China appreciates the support it has received from the Maldives. Mr. Chen Song further said that Maldives is considered an important partner of China.

The two members further discussed about several other topics relating to the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 global pandemic, economic recovery, and the resumption of tourism and international travel between Maldives and China as well.
