Tourism Ministry proposes Gan Airport for establishing a leisure travel bubble to Maldives

Male’, Maldives — The Tourism Ministry of Maldives has proposed the Gan International Airport in the southernmost atoll of Maldives, Addu City to establish a travel bubble to Maldives.

The Tourism Minister of Maldives, Abdulla Mausoom tweeted to inform that the Ministry has proposed to several partners of many source market to consider Gan International Airport in Addu as a viable option to establish a travel bubble in.

The Minister further said that the Tourism Ministry is determined to color the tourism dream of Addu City.

As the biggest two resorts in Addu City, Canareef Resort Maldives and Shangri la Villingili resorts has been closed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the city has been contributing very less to the tourism sector as only a few amount of tourists are visiting the city despite Addu having no active Covid-19 cases.
