Malé, Maldives – The Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has informed that Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas has recorded up to 31 Covid-19 cases.
During a press conference, the spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Nazla Rafeeg informed that once they found Covid-19 cases from the Anantara resort, they had taken random sampling from the resorts to check for possible spread of the Covid-19 virus in the resort.
Dr. Nazla informed that from the random sampling, 13 samples had returned positive for Covid-19.
Anantara resort had previously confirmed 17 Covid-19 cases. 14 of the 17 people were tested for Covid-19 since they were symptomatic for the virus.
In addition to the confirmed 31 Covid-19 cases at Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas resort, Oblu Sangeli resort in Maldives has recorded 83 cases till date. Apart from these two resorts, Resident Maldives resort has confirmed 15 Covid-19 cases and Iruveli resort 06 cases.
After months of recording only two digit number of cases, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that Maldives has confirmed 108 confirmed Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours. Out of these, 23 cases were recorded from the operational resorts in Maldives.
