Covid-19: Confirmed cases surpasses 100 after months

Malé, Maldives – After months of recording only two digit number of cases, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that Maldives has confirmed 108 confirmed Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

79 of the confirmed 108 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, only 05 from the islands and the remaining 23 cases from the operational resorts in Maldives with 01 case recorded from Live aboard and none from Islands under development.

With these 108 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total 1,086 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 14,993.

While the recovery case had initially increased rapidly from less than 60% to 94%, it has now gradually decreased to 92% over the past few weeks. This taken the total recovery cases to 13,849 cases to date.

To date, 51 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 44 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.
