Covid-19: 108 people positive from jails

Malé, Maldives – Maldives Correctional Service has said that there were total 108 people currently positive for Covid-19 in Hulhumalé Detention Center, Malé Jail and Asseyri Jail.

According to the information released by Corrections, 66 people were in quarantine from the 108 positive cases. It was also revealed that the most number of confirmed cases were from Asseyri Jail, which has 94 cases.

In the statistics released by HPA, it was detailed that out of the 901 cases, 468 were from the Malé area, while 417 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included 11 case from operational resorts, 04 from islands under development and 01 case from industrial islands which brought up the total active cases in the country to 24,818.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 61,844 out of which 36,862 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of May 28, 2021. Till date 157 people have lost their lives to Covid-19 in Maldives.
