Covid-19: Confirmed cases surpasses 15,000

Malé, Maldives – The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Maldives has surpassed 15,000 after HPA informed additional 109 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

78 of the confirmed 109 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, 11 from the islands and the remaining 20 cases from the operational resorts in Maldives with none recorded from Live aboard and Islands under development.

With these 109 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total 1,160 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 15,102.

While the recovery case had initially increased rapidly from less than 60% to 94 percent, it has now gradually decreased to 92 percent over the past few weeks. This takes the total recovery cases to 13,884 cases to date.

To date, 51 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 44 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.
